day one

it is only day one, and we are missing daddy, but we are hanging in there.
check out my awesome new bag, it is so wonderful. Joe said I could have it, and when we went to go buy it, it had gone on sale, which is awesome! so I got the matching wallet, too!
it converts to a different look like this
but my laptop fits in it, which is awesome too!
again, sending our love.

Hamster and Ketchup

Welcome to another day in the life of Scarlett and Mommy.
Yesterday, after leaning back on the couch watching Mrs. Spider's Sunny Patch friends for a good hour, we decided it was time to go pick up some lunch.

In Scarlett's kids meal from Del Taco was a little stuffed hamster. In the past, Scarlett has not showed much interest in these cheap excuses for stuffed animals, but this time was different. Scarlett was instantly taken with him. He was in fact her new, and very first pet.

She sat him on the table facing the television so that he would watch TV with her, and she tried to share her cheese crisp with him, but he must not have been hungry. ...either that, or maybe he just doesn't like his dipped in Ketchup. Scarlett has developed a real love for dipping ketchup, and sometimes decides just to dip her fingers and eat the ketchup instead of her food. once she finished her lunch, she immediately had to find a wipey so that they could
"clean up" after lunch.
(She gave him lots of hugs and kisses, but didn't stand still enough to get a clear shot)

Then it was naptime, and she brought him to bed with her and held him tightly against her to keep him safe.

plethora of random photos

Scarletts loves in life, 3 of which are pictured above: Cheese, good smelling things (especially Scentsy), and sitting in big girl chairs.
^Here is a picture of a blissful, aromatic experience with Perfectly Pomegranite!
one of her best girly poses
Scarlett's bangs are getting long as you can see, so I have to clip them back with a barrette if I don't want her to have hair in her eyes.
Above, is a picture of Scarlett at her aunt Wendy's house. They have a very nice child's over-sized chair, and a lot of play phones, so Scarlett is pretty much in heaven over there.
she even puts her feet up like I do
she loves playing with her cousins. She and Griffy get along really well. She thinks he is a courageous daredevil.
we feel so lucky to have her in our life.

Eviction Notice

Reason for Eviction: Your chirping is driving me batty. You must either cease to chirp or I will hunt you down and have you removed in 24 hours.

Thank you for your cooperation.

shoes

Scarlett's feet just won't stop growing. We had to make a trip down to the Wal-mart this morning to buy her some more little generic crocs for her feet. They are a 6, but run extremely big, so more like a 7 in regular shoes. Her last two pairs I only bought maybe a month ago, and one pair is already too snug for socks. With winter approaching, I knew it was time to invest the whole $5 a pair in shoes.

we got her a pink pair and a purple pair. they have little butterflies on the front, but you cant really see them in this pic i took with my cell phone. Sorry, I haven't posted in a while, I need to charge my camera and pull off some pics to blog about. We send our love.

The Redbox

I am not sure if you all have heard of this, but at all Walmarts, Walgreens' and some Circle K's there are Redbox machines. You can see that there is one to Scarlett's left in the picture above. They only charge 99cents a day for renting new release films, and you can just rent and return as many as you want at a time, which is convenient without having to pay a membership. Also, most of the Walgreens Red boxes have the option for you to purchase DVD's from the box for only like $6 a piece.

Wheres the catch, you may ask?

If you lose a video they wait until it has been missing from the box for 25 days and charge you $25 for the video EVEN if you try to contact them to try and buy it for just the $6 and the number of days youve had it. The bums. I do not think I will be patronizing them in the future if they are going to have such poor customer service practices. too bad for them, because we are movie nuts. We will have to start using Netflicks, or one of those monthly rental things from the video store.

Forget Redbox. Perhaps red is not always best after all...

I may have to throw this into the Problem Attic so that I stop brooding over it!

Motorcycle accident

My heart was heavy and sad this morning, as I read my sister's post, which you can read here. My brother David and his son were in a motorcycle accident yesterday on their way into town from Tucson. They are both so hurt, and it just makes me quiver with sadness thinking of their misfortune. I love them so much.

As I read Wendy's post to my husband, I couldn't even read the whole thing out loud as I sobbed reading it. Knowing the love that parents have for children, I can just so empathetically relate to the pain of having a child get hurt.

One time, Scarlett took a spill out of a shopping cart out in front of Walgreens, and skinned her face up a little bit, and I was just so upset, as you can read in my post from then. You can see some of her little owies in this picture.

When I think of that silly experience, it just so pails in comparison, and yet, I remember all the pain and grief I felt in that silly situation. I will be keeping my brother and his family in my thoughts and prayers, and would ask you to do the same. love to all.

The Secret Life of Bees

I was really impressed with the movie "The Secret Life of Bees", which I saw tonight. Joe met with some friends to see "Religulous", but I couldn't make their movie time due to waiting for the sitter, plus I wasn't really interested in seeing that movie anyway, but when his movie ended, he came in and finished the movie with me, which was nice.

The characters were all so great, and the story, heartwarming. It for me was a tear jerker, and would be for anyone soft hearted like me. Paul Bettany is also in it, and plays Dakota Fanning's characters dad, and does well. Jennifer Hudson was great, and Sophie Okonedo (who I didn't recognize, but was in Hotel Rawanda) was really really good. But if you don't want to cry, then don't go see this one. But truly it was one of the better movies I have seen this year.

When we got home, I tried to open the front door to find a mysterious dog growling and coming toward me as to attack. I screamed, and ran back to my car. Half an hour later, a cop showed up to block the dog in so we could get inside, and let our babysitter out. Half an hour after that, animal control finally showed up, and is now outside, she buttered him up and managed to get the dog on a leash, and got it into the van. An interesting evening, to say the least. Happy Friday, now Saturday. Goodnight.

The Problem Attic

Yes, it is 1:25 AM and I am still awake. The reason, dirty sheets. The sheets were dirty, and had to be washed before we went to bed, by mandate of my wonderful Husband. So now we sit up in the living room on our respective couches behind our respective laptops. A few moments ago, I was standing in hallway between the living room and the bedroom, twisting back and forth.

JOE: Do you have the Doldrums?
MOLLY: Yes, and it is quite problematic.
JOE: Problematic? Is that what they put at the top of the problem house?

I thought for just a moment, and realized it was one of his silly pun jokes at work. Then I sat and pondered a little longer. Hm.... A Problem Attic.... a place to set your problems aside, in order to allow yourself to live a happier, more productive life.

Yes, believe it or not, now at 2:24 AM I have just created another blog, and I would like you all to use it. You can feel free to do so anonymously. Leave a comment with a problem, issue or secret. But once you've posted it, you have to let it go, and no longer "brood", over whatever the thing is.

This new Problem Attic is located at:

The sheets are now dry.
Good night my friends.

Rest in peace, swarm of bumble bees.

I went for a walk to our complex dumpster the other day, to find amongst some thrown away furniture a chest of drawers with a trunk-like motif. It looked promising, so after realizing that I was not capable of retrieving it by myself, I told Joe about it when he woke up from his nap. He agreed to put on his shoes and look at it with me. We decided to pull it out of the dumpster and opened the top drawer to find it homing at least 100 dead bees, and a small remnant of honeycomb. We decided that we could probably clean it out well enough to still be able to use it for something. I swept out all the dead little bees, and felt sad for their shortened life. After a good scrubbing, I decided that it still wasn't going to be clean enough to house my clothing, but that perhaps it could be used in Joe's office to hold cords, or files or something. My guess is the previous owner left the dresser outside, and the bees decided it would be a safe house for their nest... needless to say they were mistaken.

Rest in peace, little bees.

Other sundry thoughts

Went and saw "The Duchess" last night, the Keira Knightley film, and it was quite good. An intense and emotional story, especially for those of us who are mothers. I had my reservations about seeing it, because in the previews her hair looked so bad that I didnt know if I could handle watching it, but it was good, and her hair gets better as the movie goes on, at least in my opinion. But yes, I think worth seeing.

But you know, when we got out of the theater last night, it was SOOO cold outside! I was wearing long sleeves (because i tend to freeze in movie theaters) and pants, but my flip flops made for some cold toesies. I have to say, I am happy that winter is finally coming. I love the way Scarlett looks in her little jeans. Her legs are finally long enough to fill them without dragging all over the ground. I think she is already growing out of some of her newer shoes, which is a drag, but I think we are getting some more money today, so that will be good, so we can pick up a few things we are in need of.

I send my love to those of you who read my blog.

Aunt Flo

Someone's artistic personification of Aunt Flo
(The Red Headed Aunt who comes once a month)

So this might seem like a far too "personal" subject for a blog, but its whats on my mind, and I have been slacking in the blogging department this week, so here is my attempt at make-up. So it has been almost 2 and a half YEARS since I had a period. Yes two and a half annuals since I had a full blown, long and drawn out, cramps from hell, diarrhea and indigestion companionship with Aunt Flo. And as bad as it is, I am glad about it.

My body is starting to finally feel like MY body again.

Why has it been so long? Well of course there was the 9 months I was pregnant with Scarlett, and then I went on the Depo Shot, which stops your periods. I was on that for a year, and it took another 8 mos for my body to get it out of its system and start having a cycle again. Waking up with wicked abdominal cramps in the middle of the night, interfering with sleep and comfort had not been missed, but I guess it is just one of those lovely labors of ladyship.

I came across a funny book on my google search for Aunt Flo images, I thought you might find interesting... The link is in the image. In case you can't read it, under the image to the left it says "Aunt Flo, a girl's closest friend... naturally!"

On a similarly related note, I do not appreciate Stayfree changing my feminine product of choice. You women out there probably know, as I do, how difficult it can be to find the product that works just right for you (which can take years to find mind you), and for them to just turn around and change the thing, to where it no longer is the perfect one for you, is just wrong, and should be illegal.

(as my father-in-law says, illegal is a sick bird)

Niiice.

You may want to stop my music on the right side of the screen so you can hear the audio in the video. I wouldn't be surprised if Scarlett's first job were at a perfume counter or Bath and Body works, she definitely could sell me just about anything. How about you?

This video took FOREVER to download, but I am sure you enjoyed it so it was worth my (impatient) pain and suffering.

Magic Pans

Yes you read that right. I have discovered magic pans (Or at least that's what my husband Joe calls them. They magically make food taste so much better than you have ever tasted, and much, MUCH, healthier, without the oil and using little to none of the water. They are made by a company called Saladmaster.

PLUS they come with a 3 lifetime guarantee, and the company has already been around for 60 years.

INTERESTED about hearing more?

Come bring your significant other, and have a nice dinner at my house. I have two coming up in the next couple weeks. they are:

This Wednesday, October 8th at 5:30

Friday, October 17th at 6:30

There is absolutely no obligation to purchase anything, just to see the magic pans for yourself, and eat some yummy food.

Comment or give me a call and let me know which nite works for you.
