Remember when...

I used to only post once a week?

Now that I have spoiled my readers with daily posts, their reading-material-withdrawal symptoms have not gone unnoticed. So alas I am back, and better than ever (well I hope!)

So for Christmas, my wonderful, saintly husband bought me THIS!:

It is my new most wonderful favorite toy.
Once he gave it to me, I had to go to the store and buy this:

and this:
(well something similar, i couldnt find a pic of my exact one)

and these:

(yes these are socks for your iPod, my cell phone also conveniently fits in one of these beauties, to avoid further scratching or pnemonia (it can be deadly!))\ for my cherished devices.)

....of course to fully optimize the wonderfulness of the gift I had received! Gotta love Christmas presents, especially the kind that make you burst into tears of joy upon opening (which was definitely the case here). I have been trying to save my debit card visa purchase points to earn an Ipod, and was still like 5 thousand points away... so now I can consider buying something like a new stroller or something with them.

What movies are coming out on Christmas day?

image from here

Bedtime Stories
Touchstone Pictures

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Paramount Pictures

Hurricane Season
Universal Pictures

Marley and Me
20th Century Fox

The Spirit
Lionsgate

The Class
Sony Pictures Classics

This is the list I found on a yahoo! question board. The problem is I didnt know what some of these were, so I'll give you the star's names and the synopses so you can make an educated decision, because OF COURSE you all want to go to the movies on Christmas day, RIGHT?! thats what I thought.

Bedtime Stories- The latest Adam Sandler film, rated PG, so created to fit more of a family audience. synopsis borrowed from IMDB: A family comedy about a hotel handyman whose life changes when the lavish bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew start to magically come true.
Rated PG for some mild rude humor and mild language.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button- Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett. Brad plays Benjamin, an anomalous case, born an old man and dies a baby. It is a romance of sorts between he and Cate Blanchett, his life long love. etcetera. I think this should be entertaining, but of course it is a "curious case" so perhaps not for everyone...
Rated PG-13 for brief war violence, sexual content, language and smoking.

Hurricane Season- I think this one looks promising, but not one for the kids.
(this description pasted from wikipedia) A year after Hurricane Katrina, Al Collins (Forest Whitaker), a high school basketball coach in Marrero, Louisiana, assembles a team of players who had previously attended five different schools before the disaster and leads them on the path to the state championships.
Rated PG-13 for brief sexual humor.

Marley and Me- Starring Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson. This looks like a heartwarming story, and I think Scarlett will like it because of the "pup"
(description from IMDB) A family learns important life lessons from their adorable, but naughty and neurotic dog.
Rated PG for thematic material, some suggestive content and language.

The Spirit- Eva Mendez and Scarlett Johannsen are both in this movie, but not the main stars...
Plot from IMDB: Rookie cop Denny Colt returns from the beyond as The Spirit, a hero whose mission is to fight against the bad forces in Central City.
Rated: PG-13 for intense sequences of stylized violence and action, some sexual content and brief nudity.

The Class- (Indie film, probably only at Scottsdale Camelview if at all)
IMDB Plot: Teacher and novelist François Bégaudeau plays a version of himself as he negotiates a year with his racially mixed students from a tough Parisian neighborhood.
Rated PG-13 for language.

Let me know if you see any of these, and what you think! :)

I have been spotlighted!

I left my camera over at Sarah's house after we had done scarlett's mini-birthday celebration over there, and much to my surprise she used the pics to give me a very sweet spotlight on her blog, which of course has made my day. Click here to see my tribute.

Last night we got Scarlett's little stroller (even if Wendy and I had to go clear out to Scottsdale Fashion Center to get it, and misplaced our car in one of their many giant garages), and today I let her walk her baby around Target in her stroller, and everybody stopped to tell me how cute she was. Refer to this blog to see pics of Scarlett playing with it weeks ago in the store.

Happy Birthday, Scarlett!

Our little girl turned two today. When I woke her up, I said, Today is your Happy Day! and she just smiled and got so excited. She has been such a good girl today, and I love her so much. Tomorrow we are going to Pottery Barn Kids to get her polka dot stroller mentioned in a scrapblog post a few weeks ago.

Here are a few pages of pics from my birthday party at Applebees. It was a lot of fun.

Slacking

Yes yes, I have been slacking... I apologize.

So I had a great birthday. Joe went to all lengths to make it a great day. I am 24 now. I had lunch with my mom, Sarah and Janice, which was nice, and Wendy was nice enough to watch Scarlett so I didnt have to bring her with me. Then I brought Scarlett home for a nap.

Joe came home from work early and we had some good bonding time. Then I took a little nap before we headed over to Applebees. Joe invited some of our friends and we had a really nice time. There were 9 of us in all at the party.

Then Joe took me to go see Cadillac Records. It was a really good movie, especially if you like to watch movies about the lives of music artists. Beyonce was SO GOOD as Etta James, and all morning I have been downloading music. I love Jazz, its good to my heart.

I got a few little gifts, and that was nice. Thanks to all of you who wished me a happy birthday through facebook or otherwise. I love you guys. More pics to come.

Adventures at the Mall

So yet another mall adventure took place today, with Malia, Phil, Preston, Scarlett and I. Joe was planning on working today so he couldnt come, but we had a good time.

Can't wait for my birthday, Joe has some kind of surprise for me... I'll let you know how it goes.

i love myFarm

On Facebook there is are a limitless number of applications available to fill the times of those with some to spare. I am one of those people. My favorite of these is myFarm. It is an application that gives you a block of empty land, a plow and a sickle and a store to buy your seeds, and you can create your own farm starting out with just $200 to spend.

Friends can give you gifts, such as coconut, banana, lemon, cherry, peach or mango trees or animals like cows, goats, chickens, or horses to help you build your farm. Trees grow to be harvested every 3 days.

It costs $20 to plow each square of land, and anywhere from $33-$100 to plant various crops in these squares. I wait for my crops to grow (anywhere from 1-3 days) and then I harvest the crop and make anywhere from $89-$200 on each crop. Then I plow and plant more.

Once you start earning substantial revenue, you can purchase a woodshed or chicken coop for $25,000 each, or a Barn for $50,000 as daunting as it seemed to earn the money for these Items I have finally done it, and now I have a barn which gives me the ability to sell off animals. I also have a woodshed that allows me to cut down and sell the trees once they are full grown, which provides me more money in profit than just one harvesting. I also have farm friends who continue to give me gifts to help me keep myFarm stocked with trees and animals. I love myFarm, but warn you, that it can become addicting.

Here is a picture of my Farm:

My new hurr

do I look a little bit like her?

On an unrelated note, did you know that there are only
TWELVE days left until CHRISTMAS?!?!

I love Ziggy

Don't you hate it when you say some snappy retort, or spew something out of your mouth and you hurt someone's feelings? I HATE THAT! This comic strip fit my thought:

If I have offended you lately, please accept my apology.

Toilet Paper

So, yes, you guessed it. This Post is about Toilet paper. (I got the image from here)

I personally have a lot of thoughts and feelings regarding TP. Since I have spent over the course of my life a LOT of time sitting on the toilet and having nothing else to think about besides.

I never thought that it was strange to feel complete joy and satisfaction with quality toilet paper until I actually discussed it with another person.

Some people could care less how soft or thick their TP is, since it just gets discarded into the bowl anyway. I personally have guidelines that must be followed when purchasing it.

1. It must not feel like sand paper. Softness is a must.

2. It should really be two ply, and if it must be only one ply, than it better be really SOFT, because otherwise, come on now..

3. It must be STRONG while maintaining its softness. Why would ANYBODY make toilet paper that is going to fall apart during use? And all I can think of is that it is less expensive, and to me, that is sad that everyone's bottoms have to suffer just to save money on toilet tissue.

Now I do not want you to think, that I feel everyone should spend LOTS OF MONEY to purchase decent toilet paper. I have found brands at the dollar store (both dollar tree and 99 cent only) that fit these requirements (four rolls for 99cents, the best brand I've found there is called Sofitelle).

If everything I have said so far you are saying to yourself could have definitely gone without saying, I would advise you to give your husband express direction when sending him to the store to buy TP or he won't follow ANY of the rules, and will come home with this:(in a 6 pack)

Then you will have 1000 sheets per roll of rough, horrible, fall apart in your hand tissue, that is supposed to resemble proper toilet paper... I think it is only the "smart choice" if you plan to use it to TP your neighbor's yard with some to spare.

The brand name shots are from the Virtual Toilet Paper Museum (yes there really is such a place!).

This museum also addresses other TP issues, such as Over or Under? which is the RIGHT way to put the toilet paper on the roll. (and for that matter, can you get your husband to even put it on the dispenser? I am still working on that one). They also have a section that discusses the History of toilet paper which I found interesting.

My favorite TP is Charmin Ultra Strong. :)

A very nice anniversary

So it may not have gone entirely to plan from start to finish, but my husband still managed to make our anniversary a wonderful day. The night before I cut Joe's hair, and he looked so handsome all day yesterday, making it even easier to remember why I fell in love with him, and still think he is the bees knees :). He had to work late, which was unforeseen.

He surprised me with a gift when Scarlett and I arrived home from a trip out to Mesa. He bought me my calendar. This has become a favorite little tradition of ours. Each year I let him know that the calendar I want is for sale, and where they are selling it in November or whenever they start putting them out, and then he always manages to sneakily get to the mall to buy it without my knowing. This year he even had it in one of those cute calendar gift boxes (like they sell in smaller sizes for CDs or gift cards). I just love him so much.

He also finally got paid for some past work, so we were able to hire a babysitter and go see "Australia". It was a great film, all 3 hours of it. Even though once we got home, we were up till 2 am with Scarlett insisting on not going to bed, we had a great day.

My mom says the most important part of anniversaries is to ask each other if you are still glad you did it, and if you are, than it was a good anniversary. I agree with her. My parents anniversary is on Saturday. They will have been married 33 years (so they have me beat by 30) I hope theirs is just as great.

Three Years

Three Years ago this Wednesday, I married the man of my dreams.

Mr and Mrs Joseph Lindsay Rawlins

Ours is the ultimate love story. We met in October, and fell in love almost instantly. We married two months later we were married. It was difficult for the onlookers to understand, but sometimes when something is right, you just know right away, without any doubt.

One year later we had our daughter Scarlett Paige. She was due on our anniversary, but came 7 days later.

just hours after Scarlett was born... a drugged mommy

Joe has been a wonderful dad from the start.

what a good daddy )

Our love continues to grow every day, and our bond strengthens. I truly feel that ours is a love that will last forever. My husband is my very best friend.

We may not have everything, but at least we have everything important

This may be the most humbling December we have ever had. Looking at the budget and lack of extra income this month, I am not sure that we will be able to buy any gifts for our highly eventful month. This month we have

Our 3rd Anniversary on the 10th

My 24th Birthday on the 16th

Scarlett's 2nd Birthday on the 17th

And of course Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Years Eve and Day on their respective dates.

But, we have each other. We have a place to live. We paid our rent. I have half a tank of gas in my car. I have a few dollars in my bank account, enough to keep from overdrawing, and Joe has a job. We have love for one another, and even if it can be bothersome when our daughter refuses to go to bed until 1:30 in the morning, we still love her just as much when she wakes up later that day.

The festive decor around the house does keep up my spirits. This was one of the more boring of weekends I have had in a long time, as I didnt see a single movie, or really do anything super exciting. I hope that things are going well for all of you, and we send our love.

Christmas Decor at the Rawlins

"Prepare to be Amazed" - (name that quote for 300 points) I am really hyping this up, so I hope nobody is disappointed

It took me all day and into the morning to get my silly house clean so I could take some pictures, So here they are. I know you were doubling over in anticipation, but
the wait is over
!

Just as I posted these, I realized there are a few things I missed, but you get the general idea. Love your comments and feedback, let me know what you think.

It looks even better in person, if you want to come see it, you are welcome!

So I have to be honest.

I was up until 5 this morning working on those scrapblog pages, and i apologize for any apparent errors, as my brain may or may not have been functioning perfectly at that hour. Luckily Scarlett Paige was nice enough to let me sleep until 1 pm today. I love my little girl. I probably would not have been up so late had I not begun the project at 2am. That is when I decided I had finished my tree.

Having searched high and low all day long for a missing box of Christmas lights and decorations, at Midnight I finally broke down and bought a box of 400 lights for 10 bucks at the cursed Walmart. (image from lorenzstudio.com) I went back and forth in my mind as to whether I wanted clear white lights or if I wanted to get the big colorful vintage style lights like we used to hang on the house as a child. They dont make them quite the same anymore, they aren't frosted with toxic lead paint, which somehow takes away some of the beauty to me. Joe advised me that I probably would not be content with the colored lights, even if Scooby might like them better. As my star topper was lost in the vanished holiday box, Joe helped me rig up a decorative star as a topper. I think he did a great job, and over all I like it. As soon as I finish clearing the debris I will take pictures and post them for all to see.

Joe is working late tonight, and Scarlett is already in bed, since we are on a late sleeping schedule today. Hopefully tonight I can go down at a more decent hour. I don't even have the TV on, I am just enjoying the peace and quiet. Thank you for all of your comments and support of my blog. I love you all, and look forward to reading and commenting more on your blogs in the future. :)
