The Dread Pirate Scarlett

Of all the presents Scarlett got for Christmas, her favorite is the Pirate sword she got in her stocking. You may wonder, "Why does a 12-month-old get a sword in her stocking?", and the answer is: I gave her the choice between a magic wand and a pirate sword, and she chose the sword. (it was only $1 at Target) As Joe would say, "What my baby wants, my baby gets."

""Would you believe a 16-year-old girl wrote it in 1877? Euphonia Allen wrote "Chopsticks" and published it under the name Arthur de Lulli. It was the only song she ever wrote (if you could call it a song).

By the way, just because I know you'll ask...the song has nothing to do with the Asian eating utensils. The sheet music instructions told the pianist to "play with both hands turned sideways, the little fingers lowest, so that the movements of the hands imitates the chopping from which this waltz gets its name."

No doubt, piano enthusiasts everywhere are forever grateful for this fine piece of work""

Shumway Caroling Party

Last Night was the Shumway family Caroling party. It was a good time. Scarlett got to see/meet some of her many cousins.
This is my cousin Rachel's little boy Easton. He's Scarlett's kissing cousin. We like his Mohawk and his cute little Puma shoes.

Cousin Randy dressed up as Santa Clause; that scared Scarlett, she was really not happy with me.

She and I shared the candy cane Santa gave her. She really liked that.

After everyone got back from caroling, we had donuts.
(behind her are cousins Maddie and Tatum)
Scarlett likes donuts a lot.

Holy hand grenade of Antioch

this picture fits the title line of this post.

hmmm... wonder how this thing works..
mmm, tasty
put it down, and nobody gets hurt

So I don't know why this is so entertaining or unusual to me, but they make hand grenade toys for young children. I am not sure if this is to encourage them to promote war, or understand the tumult of today's society or what, but we were over at my sister's house Friday and I just had to take a second to take a few pictures and blog about it.
Sarah's Alex loved the camera, and wanted me to take pictures of him, too.
Later that night we went to Peter Piper Pizza, Sarah Wendy with their husbands and I with our kids. This is a pic of Sarah's Tyson, He was up on his Daddy's shoulders when I took this.
Scarlett had Pizza crust.

A man in an red suit

"Who is this crazy man?"
"And an even better question...  why is he touching me?!"

I'm thinking we may go try this one more time, since my mom bought scarlett a little red and white female santa dress. not sure yet though, don't want her to be traumatized for life, lol.

the tree, and our anniversary

So on Saturday my Hubby took Scarlett and I to pick out a tree. I now have it mostly decorated. I will most likely switch out some of the gold bows for red ones, I just feel lazy at the moment. But here are some pics of our tree and decor. Enjoy!

A pic of the tree from a glance... honestly doesn't do it justice.
This is my chubby Christmas couple. They make me smile.
This nifty little ornament I got from World Market this year, you pull the little string between his legs and his Arms and legs go up. Scarlett loves it.
This is my Sock monkey ornament and my red butterfly.
This is my favorite picture of the Savior, with the woman crying at is feet. You can feel his love extending out to this woman through the picture. This is the Savior I believe in.

Tonight we went to My Big Fat Greek Restaurant on the 10 and Ray. It is on the SW Corner of 54th street and Ray. It is the best BFGR there is. It was also nice because my friends Fiancee is the manager there, and he gave us our meal for free.
Scarlett had her first taste of Pita and she rather liked it.
She also ate a lot of rice.
I gave her her first big girl sippy cup today, and you would have thought I was introducing her to her new best friend.

Friday

Yesterday afternoon, Joe brought us the car, and told us he was working till 8 so we went out to Mesa. Though I had planned to go to my Mom's house to have her help me make bows, it turned out not to be the best time, so we ended up going over to Anjeanette's house and hanging out with she and Aidan. Then her husband Daniel came home and they invited me to stay for dinner. Then I mentioned the movie Snatch, and Daniel nor Anjie had seen it, so we decided that it would be fun if I went and picked up Joe and then we brought the movie over.

We had a really good time. Scarlett was a little cranky because she didn't take very good naps yesterday, but at least she went right to bed when we got home. This morning she woke up at 9 to have a bottle, but she is still tired, so I put her back down. Joe is working all day today, and just came home for a brief moment and is gone again without a word. He went in at 6am, so I am sure he is just a little tired. I think maybe I'll go back to sleep too. I hope you are all having an excellent weekend so far.

okay

So the funds are back in my account as of Yesterday morning, and things are a whole lot less stressful for me. My husband has not stopped working at full blast trying to provide, and keep his job. He is such a wonderful man.
