Blogger's Birthday-- and Cleaning the Car

Did anyone else notice that there is a birthday cake (or as scarlett would call it, a Party Cake) on the Blogger logo today? well, i did. Happy Birthday, Blogger, if it is, in fact your birthday.

Well, this morning, I woke up early (for me) before 9 am. I knew this would be a somewhat busy day, so I decided to put on makeup and do my hair while Scarlett was still asleep. Then I did a mini photo shoot on "Photo Booth". Here's a mini slideshow of those pics.

As soon as Scarlett was done with her nap, we headed off to have some Pizza lunch. Then, when we got back, I backed my CRV into the garage for a long awaited cleaning. Yes, a lot of that stuff has been in the back of the car since we moved to Cali.... and was still there. SO I decided to take matters into my own hands.

this is what I looked like afterwards:

Sending smiles to those I love, and looking forward to seeing some of you this weekend.

Taylor Swift... and reality TV.

Ok, so I didnt get a chance to watch Taylor Swift's interview on The View until just now. She sure is a classy 19 year old gal. I was also blown away by the message in this song that she performed. I think it is a message that young girls need.

here are the lyrics to the song, provided by (www.azlyrics.com)

"Fifteen"

You take a deep breath and you walk through the doors
It's the morning of your very first day
You say "Hi" to your friends you ain't seen in a while
Try and stay out of everybody's way
It's your freshman year and you're gonna be here
For the next four years in this town
Hoping one of those senior boys will wink at you and say
"You know I haven't seen you around, before"

'cause when you're fifteen and somebody tells you they love you
You're gonna believe them
And when you're fifteen
Feeling like there nothing to figure out
Well count to ten, take it in
This is life before who you're gonna be
Fifteen

You sit in class next to a redhead named Abigail
And soon enough you're best friends
Laughing at the other girls who think they're so cool
Well be out of here as soon as we can
And then you're on your very first date and hes got a car
And you're feeling like flying
And you're mommas waiting up and you think hes the one
And you're dancing round your room when the night end
When the night ends

'cause when you're fifteen and somebody tell you they love you
You're gonna believe them
When you're fifteen and your first kiss
Makes your head spin round but
In your life you'll do things greater than dating the boy of the football team
But I didn't know it at fifteen

When all you wanted was to be wanted
Wish you could go back and tell yourself what you know now
Back then I swore I was gonna marry him someday
But I realized some bigger dreams of mine

And Abigail gave everything she had to a boy
Who changed his mind and we both cried

'cause when you're fifteen and somebody tells you they love you
You're gonna believe them
And when you're fifteen, don't forget to look before you fall
Ive found that time can heal most anything
And you just might find who you're supposed to be
I didn't know who I was supposed to be at fifteen

La la la la la .. la la la la la .. La la la la la

Your very first day
Take a deep breath girl
Take a deep breath as you walk through those doors.

I also was very pleased with the outcomes on my reality shows last night. Tali and Luke, so in love :). Jordyn and Jeff, definitely won the hearts of America on Big Brother this season.

Project of the day, (BEFORE I GO TO BED, I have forced myself to this aspiration) I WILL clean out the back of my car... it has been filled with junk for FAR too long, lol.

Wish me luck.

Odds, ends, and monkey friends,

335 Posts, can you believe it?!?

Rainbow Brite is in the hiz-ouse.

Particularly, "Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer"
(image from http://images2.fanpop.com/images)

So last night we stopped by Blockbuster after just barely making it to Panda Express before it closed. Scarlett "love-it, Chinese!"

So I pa roused through the $3.99 previously viewed DVD's and found this precious gem. It didn't have the picture on the cover, just a labeled box that said, "Rainbow Brite."

I of course, instantly decided, Scarlett should be a fan as I was growing up. Gotta love those fuzzy little guys with the star antennae. Scarlett loves the "Rainbow Horse" Starlight.

It makes me happy that Scarlett can appreciate "the classics" of animation movies. It is funny to me to think that when Scarlett is a teen/young adult things from the 90's and 00's will be "so cool" like the 80's were for my generation. They will think of 80's punk like I think of 60's Rock.

We are still sick. Things that make us perk up, include suckers (of the dumdum variety). and egg drop soup. mmmmm.

Any of you friends out there been watching Big Brother? Are you rooting for Jordyn like me?

And on Big Love, are you kind of indifferent as to who Luke picks in the end, like Joe and I are? We think that Malissa is just in it to win it, not necessarily to find "love".

MMMM. this Wendy's commercial just called my name. We'll catch you all later.

Hugs and Hamburgers,

Under the Weather

Definitely one of the WORST things about being a parent, is having a sick kid. I do not know how parents with cronically ill children handle it. Scarlett is no good at being sick. She screams at the top of her lungs, and hates her dad, the entire time. She is also not nice to me, either. She refuses to take even tylenol and ibuprofen, so unfortunately we have to force her to take it, so that she doesn't get too high of a fever. Not fun.

Joe just took her down stairs for a nap, so I now have a moment of peace to myself. Having two whole days off with Joe home, is nice though. He has a bit of a cold too. We had hoped to go to the beach today, or maybe go out to LA to see the hollywood stars in the pavement. I have always wanted to do that.

trying to get my bearings to get this place all organized.... where is my energy? I have been SO TIRED lately. Hope everyone is doing well.

Brownies and Balloons

Upon Reflection, I have come to the conclusion that most moms think their children are brilliant. I am no exception.  My daughter, Scarlett, is a genius. Okay so maybe that is a bit strong, but she definitely is a smart cookie!

(Editors Note: Please be not appalled by the chocolate on my daughter's face, as she discovered today, that she LOVES the brownies at Chick-fil-a, thanks to the nice lady who gave her a "sample")
Here is a story from today to illustrate my point. At chick-fil-a, like always, they gave us a balloon. We decided to spend some time on their patio today, and my Scarlett noticed that THIS:

which, is the valve on the bottom of the balloon (that allows them to fill  it with air without having to remove the plug, and comes pre-wound with the string and everything so they dont have to spend so much time airing up balloons) Happens to be the same size in diameter as these:
(holes in the table)
Look, at the great wonder in here eyes, and sense of accomplishment, as she has put the balloon valve into the hole!
BUT----- It gets better! SO she then realized that the toothpick that held aforementioned brownie, when poked into the hole made the air escape the balloon! Doesn't she look a little bit like a brainy rocket scientist here? I thought so.....

Of course, with childhood comes the innocence and true joy even in perhaps less thought provoking behavior, like hiding under the table on all fours like a puppy.

(but no less, adorable.)
All for now. Hope you have enjoyed the day from my view. :)

Home again, Home again, Jiggity Jig.

Well, It was a fun and interesting trip to the sweltering heat of Mesa. As much as we love all of our family out there, we are sure glad we won't be doing that drive again any time soon. I got us a little lost on the way home. Driving at 2am, it can be difficult to remember the names of the freeways to take.
<------(image from http://www.barbspics.com)

I often see on the news about wildfires, but never have it actually PERSONALLY impact me, or experience any of it, but on the way home, we went on this toll road, and were enveloped in the deepest thickest cloud. It was smoke, from the fires. I had to roll down my window to pay the tolls. It smelled of burning transmissions. (those of you who have ever had major car troubles, will be able to recall this delightful smell)
(image from https://www.assurancegroup.com) ----->
First I was worried it was coming from my car. Joe was quick to remind me, this was smoke from the fires. We hoped that our home would still be standing (we were still further from home than we realized, luckily) We passed the smoky area, and I was so grateful for clean clear air, and being able to see what was in front of me. So glad that I have a home that is not being threatened by natural disaster (today anyway).

I got my hair done while I was in AZ, by my wonderful hair gal Tracey Walker. She is located at Val Vista and Williams field (chandler blvd). Its called Salon Boutique. So if you are looking for a stylist/colorist, you should send me a message, so I can send you her info. She is awesome. Here are some pics of the hair... There are a few more on my facebook page, for those of you who have friended me on there.

This afternoon, Scarlett and I had lunch at Chick fil a and she played with the kids there. I got some great pics with my phone.

her new friend trying to make her happy instead of sad :)

see that look of joy in her face? this girl LOVES new friends :)
Remember this?
LOOK how she has grown!! how does this happen?!

procrastiNATION

Well, hello my dear friends! This is my first time using the newer up to date editor box. While browsing through the settings a few days ago, I discovered that there was a new option for editing box, though I will now admit, that for me, it is always a bit daunting to try new things... SO we will see how this goes :)

Scarlett Paige, has now decided that "Winnie the Pooh" is her new favorite movie. I quite enjoy it myself. I bought it right after we moved here in a discount bin at Albertsons, its the Winnie the Pooh, the search for Christopher Robbin. She turned it on all by herself this morning..

This evening we are headed out to AZ for the weekend. I hope we see lots of friends and family while we are there. I know a lot of my family is going camping, so I hope they have fun and dont feel bad about missing us. Its always so difficult to see everyone on short trips into town.

I've got laundry to do, and stuff to get together for our trip. I have procrastinated LONG enough, so I will probably be MIA online until we get back... sending happy thoughts your way.
