My Grandpa Gerald Shumway passed away last night in my parent's home where he had been living for the past two years. He was ninety two years old. At first i feel sadness, knowing i will never get to see his smiling face again or hear him sing Amazing grace on his way to the breakfast table or help him with the crossword puzzle or play Scrabble with him. However these past few weeks his health had rapidly deteriorated and his prized sense of independance vanished, so I know he is so happy to be on the other side in the arms of loved ones and to be ailment free. He is loved and will be sincerely missed.

Yes, we will miss our Great Grandpa Shumway. We feel so blessed to have been able to be around his sweet spirit the last two years. He has really made me think about the way I treat people, ever when I'm miserable.
