A word of advice

NEVER NEVER NEVER GIVE YOUR DEBIT CARD TO A HOTEL AT CHECK IN. ALWAYS USE A CREDIT CARD. IF YOU DON'T HAVE A CREDIT CARD, USE SOMEONE ELSE'S!

Thank you.

My husband is out of town in Sedona since Sunday, and he gave them our debit card at check-in, and they put a $519 hold on our account, which would make our rent check not clear. Very very bad and stressful. SO I ran down to the bank and put an extra $100 in the account to make sure that the check would clear, along with the gas I pumped on Sunday, and told my husband he is NOT ALLOWED to use the debit card while he is gone... what did he do? He used it for another $15. I am now just hoping our account doesn't overdraw tonight, because I will be VERY ANGRY if it does before they remove the hold tomorrow morning. My HUSBAND will have to go down to the bank and plead for them to remove the overdraft charges because it is ENTIRELY not my fault.

Sorry for the rant post. Sympathies are always greatly appreciated.

Oh I sympathize with you, not because this has ever happened to me but somethings like that are so stressful and no fun. I am sorry and hope that everything works out.

yeah, well our credit is so bad we cant get approved for a credit card for ODP (overdraft protection) I apply and we get denied. fun fun. And surprise surprise, when he checked out this morning at the resort, our account was not credited back... so we do have to wait till it falls off and live on $25 my husband had in his pocket until then.

I understand that has happened to me to me as well....Hotels do that kinda stuff all the time...and then it takes them forever to give you the credit back...I hope all works out for you...I do totally understand...

How weird that you wrote about this. Just today I read an article in Readers Digest about the same topic. I'm not sure what month it was but it was saying that debit cards are more likely to be used in fraud as well. Hope it gets debited back soon. If not you could come to ours for dinner.
