Time

A friend of mine shared this today, which truly touched me in a profound way.

An African Friend of his said:

"In America you have watches but no time.
In Africa we don't have watches but we have plenty of time."

In America we tend to constantly be in a hurry. Going here and there, doing this or that. But what is our hurry? We need to slow down and take the time to appreciate all of the things that we have, and make the time to show them how much we care. We have good, long, healthy lives ahead of us. Lets make them the best they can be... not just the busiest.

Isn't it so true, I get stressed out sometimes over the stupidest things and I don't sit down to breath at times. I think I like the idea of slowing down!

I am trying to slow down...haven't figured out how to accomplish it. When I slow down I fall asleep. So I am trying focus on enjoying the right now the best I can, to be grateful and happy and in those hectic times when I have to choose, to tell myself "People are more important than things", cuz one thing is for sure. The things don't just disappear...they stick around waiting for us...Love, Mom

I enjoyed this thought you shared. Thanks. When we lived in England I didn't feel as competitive as I do in the western US. I think it's a bit of Mormon Mob Mentality. I've been trying to focus more on the things that matter and getting rid of things we don't use/need. It's easy to get caught up in the idea that we have to do more than we really want to. We moved the TV out of the main living area and that seems to have helped. We now have a place just to sit and talk.
