Training Pants and Perfume

So, today I bought Scarlett's first training pants. At first I thought, she would love them, Heck they have Dora the Explorer on them! I would totally wear em if they came in my size! But alas, she fought me to put them on, inspiring a spanking moment (MAN I hate spanking).

But we got them on, and I think now she has learned, that she should not try to kick and scream when I am helping her put on her potty training pants! They are totally cute though... I will make Joe take a picture of her wearing them later. You will see...

So, the past few days, I have decided to put some of this perfume I have been lugging around with me at every MOVE, and actually try out some of the scents every couple days, and I have been LOVING it! Growing up, my Mom always wore the same perfume, still this day, if you smell Este Lauders' Youth Dew, you think of my Mom, you just can't help it. This has always made me want to find a scent that I could love to wear forever and ever.... but I am so non-committal. I LOVE one perfume today, and then Tomorrow when I try on another one, I love that one too, just in different ways.

I have often tried to say, OK, this is the scent for me, but then, I get tired of it! examples start at around age 13. I was DYING to get SUNFLOWERS perfume for Christmas. Now, I just want to puke thinking about it. Over time, I have tried Cotton Candy body spray (which i have been informed makes a person smell like a stripper), Lovespell, and Pear Glace' from V.S., various bath and body works scents, including PearBerry, CountryApple, VanillaSugar, MangoMadarin, & VelvetTuberose.

I have been sharing the names of some of the perfumes I have been using with some friends, and people will say things like, "Oh, my grandma wears that". I guess to some people that would be the difinitive sign that they do not want to smell like someone's grandma. But I have sort of wanted to be an old lady since, well, puberty. Whats funny is, now that my Mom is a grandma, I still don't think of her as an old lady. My grandma is an old lady, nearly 80. My other grandma died at 80. These are old ladies. Polyester wearing, kleenex carrying, perfume wearing, lotion toting, orthopedic shoe wearing, old ladies. Beautiful silver or white hair, no need for coloring. Wrinkles that you want to see. I just wanna squeeze 'em.

I re-colored my hair red, as you might have noticed by my new banner. I am considering making it my new signature instead, so that when I get tired of looking at the banner, I will still have a record of this, so I will try it out for a few posts and see if it bugs me, lol.

Scarlett and I rather enjoyed our early afternoon trip to Target, until she became too tired to function throwing her most recently purchased pair of shoes off, and refusing to walk. The meltdown began because SOMEONE pulled down one of those folding bikes for kids, and Scarlett REALLY wanted it. Of course, she wanted to climb on it, but it wasn't even fully assembled, so I had to put it up out of her reach which made her mad. Oh, if I could count all the times I have incurred the wrath of Scarlett Paige....

But, the first part of the Target trip was fun, eating at the little Food place. Scarlett loves sitting there and eating. She was noticing all of the squares everywhere. On the floor, on the walls, and just so thrilled, "A Square! A Sware!" she would exclaim, gleefully. "Mmmm Pretzel GOOD!"

Scarlett is sitting on the floor giggling about something. I think she has enjoyed squashing the lid to the UPwords Game, and is proud of herself... cheap thrills, I guess.

THE UGLY TRUTH! (A morning at the Movies)

(I totally looked for a picture of Scarlett sleeping, but gave up before I found one, so this adorable pic from http://funnypicturejokes.blogspot.com/2009/04/shh-cute-babies-are-sleeping-herefunny.html )

Today I woke up bright and early (at 10am, here I'll lol for you) to get to a movie by 10:50... okay, so MAYBE I came out of my bedroom at 10, and laid on the couch for 20 minutes before wandering in to the bathroom, scooping some clothes off of the floor, putting my hair in a messy pony tail, and scurrying out the door.

Why did I have to wear dirty clothes off of the bathroom floor? Because, I didnt want to bother/ risk waking up Sleeping Scarlett in my bed. I chose the 10:50 showing, because odds were good that she would sleep the entire time I was at the movie, and cause Joe zero problems. What is funny, is, that when I left, Joe decided to MOVE Scarlett downstairs to her bed, where "supposedly" she stayed asleep, only she was totally awake and watching Blues Clues when I got home. (Yes she now knows how to turn it on, get it to play from the title menu, and even skip chapters all by herself, she is very very smart)

I know he has had a LONG, GRUELING few weeks at work... *grrrr*, but it also has meant me, and Scooby Doo, alone, together, from dawn until dusk, which made it necessesary for some manditory "Molly Time".

I made it to the movie in perfect time, missing none of the previews for the upcoming movies. ALSO, I have been toting around this "Regal Rewards Card" for the movie theaters, and in my mind had pretty much determined it was useless, however as I purchased my ticket, I went ahead and dug through my wallet to use it, and BOOM, Free small popcorn!

I am sure you are thinking... "small popcorn? who wants a small popcorn?" (ok so that isn't a picture of me at the movies, but I could only wish I looked that cute stuffing my face in the dark, lol!) First, I have to admit that the popcorn bag sizes are WAY different out here in Irvine. I dont know what they are like in every other city in CA so I won't broaden my statement further than Irvine & Tustin. But, Small is actually pretty good sized, and just perfect for one person who should not eat lots and lots of popcorn, however the lovely girl at the counter, offered to upgrade my popcorn to a MEDIUM for only $1. This was an offer I couldn't refuse. Since I only had to pay a DOLLAR for my popcorn, I decided I would splurge for the big drink... by big, I mean ENORMOUS.... and comes with a free refill. I dont know how many ounces it is, but I think it is even more than 44... yes, BIG!

A few movies I forgot to mention my excitement for in my last post, are, "The Time Traveler's Wife" staring Eric Banna and Rachel McAdams. (image from http://samanthaiam.wordpress.com/2008/04/14/the-time-travelers-wife ) Looks excellent. Also, the movie "Funny People" looks totally entertaining and fun, (image from http://www.yourmoviestuff.com) Starring: Adam Sandler, Seth Rogan, and um, that curly headded kid from superbad and other entirely dirty, off-beat comedy films that Joe likes. I know that I could just look up the names of these people, but then it takes too long and I don't finish the posts, so I love that Amiee knows the names of these people and leaves them in the comment line!

So, I sat and enjoyed this lovely film. Yes, it was rated R. No, it was not full of nudity, (actually there was no nudity) no man or woman naked parts. Not much foul language, a few off colored jokes, and by a few, I mean many, but not as revolting as humor found in movies made for MEN, such as Borat (yes, I am ashamed to say Joe dragged me to that film) or Step Brothers. It was a love story, and You know I am a sucker for those. It also had an excellent ending for any true "storybook ending" lover. I, for one DETEST movies with crappy endings. Obviously when a movie is rated R, its because it is not a subject matter suitable for children under the age of 18, so I think the rating SHOULD stick. Honestly, I wish the rating system were more cut and dried in that sense, I have seen a lot worse in several pg13's. Enough said...

LAZY DAISY

Okay, so I have been a bit of a lazy daisy in blogger land this past week. We had a lot of fun when my sisters were here. If you havent checked out the post on Wendy's blog yet, please do. I dont think I could do it any better justice.

We did a lot of shopping, eating, and playing. We did get in a beach trip, too. We also got to meet up with our cousin Deena, which was nice. She looked as beautiful as ever, of course. I was glad to be able to share this beautiful place where I live. I love my sisters so much. SO, who is coming to visit next?!

I think I can contribute some of my blog laziness to recouperating from company... I am not sure why, but it does seem like it can take a week or so to get back into your normal swing of things when guests leave. Scarlett still has preferred sleeping in my bed, which I know I need to nip in the bud! She didnt go to sleep until 5:15AM the other day, which just about KILLED me lol.

I am really excited for the finally of the Bachelorette this Monday, and So you think you can dance is wrapping up this season very soon too.

More to Love, the reality show about "real sized" women, is starting this upcoming week, and I am pretty hyped about it, and hope it doesn't suck. I also have started watching "dating in the dark" which is an interesting concept for a show, having people meet up and only converse or date in a pitch black room. However I guess I just wasn't ready to see how shallow some people are when it comes to looks. I hate superficiality.

There are also a bunch of new movies coming out that I really really really want to see. Including:

The Ugly Truth- (Opens Today?!) Kathryn Heigl (Greys Anatomy) and--what's his name? Anyway, looks like a cute romance, my kind of movie.

500 Days of Summer- Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Leavitt Love them both, cant wait to see this adorable love story on the big screen... its only playing in "select theatres" right now, which means I would have to drive an hour out to LA to see it, I am not THAT die hard, lol.

Julie & Julia- Amy Adams and Meryl Streep. Looks like one of the best movies I am going to see for a long time. I am positive I won't be disappointed. (High expectations.... I know!) About a run of the mill girl, in a crap job, utterly miserable, who decides she will cook through the entire Julia Child's cookbook, in efforts to find herself, and blog about it along the way. Meryl Streep is playing Julia Child, and though they are from different times, it appears they parallel the two womens stories together throughout the film. Stanley Tucci is also in this film.Away we Go- (Currently in theatres?) Still haven't seen this... looks excellent. Has the cute kid from the Office in it. About a couple expecting a baby... A friend of mine saw it, and loved it... I need to see more movies!

(from amazon.com this time... wow some people are total jerks about images that dont even "really" belong to them anyway~! if you dont know what i'm talking about, thats ok...)

Okay, I can't think of much else to say, so I guess thats all for now. Time for Scooby and I to find some lunch.

Let the Games Begin!

Well, friends, it is only 10:35am on Saturday, and I feel like I have already had so much fun this weekend. My sisters, Wendy and Sarah, have come for a visit! They arrived at about 12:30 AM Friday, and so we spent all of yesterday, shopping, eating, and having fun. They didnt have to bring their kids here with them, which I am sure is a nice sanity break. Yesterday, we had to bring Scarlett along for the festivities, and I think considering all circumstances, she behaved pretty well. She only got like 6 hours of sleep, who knows why, so we already had a forecast for crankiness from the get go, but somehow being tired just made her more sleepy, and less fussy. (not sure if that made sense)

Joe just took the ladies to go get some bagels, so I thought I would sneak in a post while they are gone. Wendy forgot to bring her camera on our adventures of yesterday, but today we are meeting up with my cousin Deena, which should be fun. I'll be sure to post more once the trip draws to a close.

Bob Lob Law Law Blog (say that 5x fast!)

So last night somehow, Scarlett ended up in my bed. Honestly, I am blaming her dad for this one, since he decided it was just TOO HOT and turned the a/c back on, FREEZING her to death downstairs, forcing her up to my bed, where I could try to make her keep a blanket on her body. This morning, when Joe was getting ready for work, I pitifully begged him to turn the air off, and he did, and now Scarlett is still sound asleep in my bed. (this is a picture Joe took of another day when Scarlet slept in my bed, she was a bit better behaved that day... actually was on her side of the bed!)

That girl sleeps in the strangest positions, its like impossible for her to just sleep normally in the same direction on the pillow next to me.... she sleeps sideways, upside down, and every which way. At one point this morning, she was completely cuddled up to my top half, from upside down... I am not sure if you are getting the mental image, but, as sweet as it was, it made me a bit claustrophobic.

It's funny, how as a young girl, I was sure that I would always want a guy to cuddle with in bed. Now, however, there really is nothing more of a nuissance than someone plastered to you when you want to get some much needed rest. It is unclear to me what exactly makes that so irritating, but it is... it is...

Don't get me wrong, cuddling is great, and has its time, just not when I am trying to sleep, lol.

Um.....Blogging every day, I do seriously run out of exciting things to report, however my sister Wendy may be coming to visit me this weekend which should be way fun! I hope my Joe doesn't have to work TOO much so that I can have the most time to dedicate to having good times with her-- Scooby free...

Joe's work schedule is pretty much entirely unpredictable. I never know, if he is going to come home telling me he has LOADS of work to do on his laptop, or if he is going to let me borrow it, to chat with some of my "intermet" friends. :) Don't laugh too hard considering that is about my only interaction with the outside world, besides talking to people through order windows, or at restaurants.

You might wonder why I would need to borrow Joe's computer, when you know I have my own.... well, for about 2 months now, (or at least it feels that long) I have been missing the letter T. That's right, T is missing from my keyboard, which makes typing pretty much anything a full on NUISSANCE. (wow i have used that word a lot in this post) However, I guess I am getting the hang of it now, more than before, without it driving me nuts trying to type this post. Also, I have no webcam, and Joe's has one built in, so thats handy, and his screen is a lot bigger than mine, which helps in multi-tasking.

So, I am still conflicted with this new layout and the fact that my "big picture" days are over... Yes, I know I am a silly girl.

Routine? LOL!

So here I am, again, Blogging at 9AM.. I have to admit I enjoy the quiet time before Scarlett wakes up, even if I am still utterly groggy, and a little cranky in the mornings. Blogging at the same time for two days almost resembles having a routine, which is pretty laughable in my mind, because, our life has anything but {ROUTINE}... Sometimes we get up before noon, sometimes we don't, sometimes we eat 3 meals a day, sometimes we don't. Sometimes we get to bed around midnight, sometimes its 2 or 3 am. I believe our only predictability is unpredictability.

Last night before finally falling into my bed, I finally changed my blog background. There is a really long--and probably boring--story which explains why my blog was how it were for so long... S T R E T C H E D out.... I liked to be able to put up decent sized pictures so that they didnt have to be clicked on for enlargement... but, lets face it, it has been a long time since I had a decent camera to take a decent picture, so I broke down and went back to a basic Minima layout. aquapoppydesigns2.blogspot.com has a lot of really great backgrounds which are much less OVERUSED than those of CutestBlogOnTheBlock.com, so I'm going to go with easy for a while.

I use a small 12 inch laptop for my blogging, and my old background fit perfectly on it, however, I had a sinking suspicion for the past weeks, (as long as I have had that background) that perhaps it didnt look so great on a larger screen... and thank you Allyson for validating this suspicion, and calling me to action... I may change up the back ground several times in the next few weeks in an effort to find one that *tickles my fancy* in the same way :)

I also have one smaller confession to make... remember how I said I was pearing down my bloglist? Well.... that was only partially true....*snickers*. Those of you who truly know me, also are well aware that I am a bit of a packrat, and an overly sentimental fool. But the big discovery I had a few nights ago was this:

can you see the little "Hide from list" link? this is how you "hide" those blogs that you only like to sometimes read... Kind of like all those old magazines you keep FOREVER just to look at maybe once a year for inspiration or a decoupage/collage project. I think it is the calming assurance that I can go back and click on:
my "hidden blog" list to see them all again... and get my fix of frivolity *inserts evil grin here*

Says, I guess that's all for now, but I did want to say, all those comments on my last blog tickled me pink! So keep it up all you lovely readers of mine. xoxo.

excuses excuses excuses

Okay so each day--okay MOST days--I look at my bloglist (not the cute little one on the right side of my blog screen, but this one):
and I become overwhelmed with dozens of new posts EVERY SINGLE DAY, cute design blogs, craft blogs, vender blogs, friends from way back when blogs, family members who are gems in my heart blogs.

I follow A LOT of blogs..... actually this screen shot was taken after "Hiding" at least a dozen of them... my new resolve is to taper down my reading list so that I can give more loving attention to you bloggers out there who show me the same, and well, a lot of them who don't because I'm a glutton for punishment!

Sometimes I try to just PLOW through them all to at least keep up with the reading, and stay informed, but doing this makes me neglect my responsiblity of commenting, so Hopefully, with a tapered down list, I will keep up better. I'm done with the excuses, time to get back to work, being a better blogger once again.

If I wanted to continue with the excuses, i could come up with a few dozen as to why I have not been blogging lately, but they would seem like not very good reasons to some--well maybe all--of you.

Still have no decent camera... have gotten a few comments about the crummy quality of pictures that comes from my pathetic little phone camera, so I have been just keeping them to myself...

The most exciting thing that happened this week was getting all my laundry done, thanks to my saint of a Sister in Law, Tina and her husband Corey who helped me gather and haul all my clothes to the local laundromat, which was extremely hard to find, since I live in a more "posh" area of town these days--lol. Corey turned out to be an all-star at the laundromat. He has long long arms, and could reach and throw clothes into washers and driers, faster and more efficiently than anyone I have ever seen! I told him, I never want to go to a laundromat without him EVER AGAIN! For some reason that didn't make him nearly as excited as I hoped :) Corey also shampooed and then came back the next day and vaccummed Scooby's carpet in her room, because she has been spilling far too much Sprite on it, and I was beginning to get very concerned! Now it looks like brand new again. I love those two angels of mine.

While we were at the Laundromat, Joe felt he urge to help me clean up the house, so now we have a super clean house, clean laundry, and a happy Molly. Strange how that works.... why somehow having a clean area changes your mood and outlook on life....is beyond me, but I'm enjoying it.

I think I'll go back to sleep now :)

Time

A friend of mine shared this today, which truly touched me in a profound way.

An African Friend of his said:

"In America you have watches but no time.
In Africa we don't have watches but we have plenty of time."

In America we tend to constantly be in a hurry. Going here and there, doing this or that. But what is our hurry? We need to slow down and take the time to appreciate all of the things that we have, and make the time to show them how much we care. We have good, long, healthy lives ahead of us. Lets make them the best they can be... not just the busiest.
